For those at my table

Mornin' Girls!! This is for those who were at my table, and had to put up with me talking negatively about a TV preacher, because he said that God wasn't in control. I got this by email, and thought I'd share.

Subject: Fw: God is always in control

A man from Norfolk , VA called a local radio station to share this on Sept 11th, 2003, TWO YEARS AFTER THE TRAGEDIES OF 9/11/2001

His name was Robert Matthews. These are his words:

A few weeks before Sept. 11th, my wife and I found out we were going to have our first child. She planned a trip out to California to visit her sister. On our way to the airport, we prayed that God would grant my wife a safe trip and be with her. Shortly after I said 'amen,' we both
Heard a loud pop and the car shook violently. We had blown out a tire. I replaced the tire as quickly as I could, but we still missed her flight. Both very upset, we drove home.

I received a call from my father who was retired NYFD.. He asked what my wife's flight number was, but I explained that we missed the flight

My father informed me that her flight was the one that crashed into the southern tower. I was too shocked to speak. My father also had more news for me; he was going to help. 'This is not something I can't just sit by for; I have to do something.'

I was concerned for his safety, of course, but more because he had never given his life to Christ. After a brief debate, I knew his mind was made up. Before he got off of the phone, he said, 'take good care of my grandchild. Those were the last words I ever heard my father say; he died while helping in the rescue effort.

My joy that my prayer of safety for my wife had been answered quickly became anger. I was angry at God, at my father, and at myself. I had gone for nearly two years blaming God for taking my father away. My son would never know his grandfather, my father had never accepted Christ, and I never got to say good-bye.

Then something happened. About two months ago, I was sitting at home with my wife and my son, when there was a knock on the door. I looked at my wife, but I could tell she wasn't expecting anyone. I opened the door to a couple with a small child.

The man looked at me and asked if my father's name was Jake Matthews. I told him it was. He quickly grabbed my hand and said, 'I never got the chance to meet your father, but it is an honor to meet his son.'
He explained to me that his wife had worked in the WorldTrade Center and had been caught inside after the attack. She was pregnant and had been caught under debris. He then explained that my father had been the one to find his wife and free her. My eyes welled up with tears as I thought of my father giving his life for people like this. He then said, 'there is something else you need to know.'

His wife then told me that as my father worked to free her, she talked to him and led him to Christ. I began sobbing at the news.

Now I know that when I get to Heaven, my father will be standing beside Jesus to welcome me, and that this family would be able to thank him themselves .

When their baby boy was born, they named him Jacob Matthew, in honor of the man who gave his life so that a mother and baby could live.

This story should help us to realize this: God is always in control.

We may not see the reason behind things, and we may never know this side of heaven, but God is ALWAYS in control.

Please take time to share this amazing story. You may never know the impact it may have on someone. God doesn't call the qualified, He qualifies the called.

Give thanks to the Lord for He is good. His love endures Forever. Psalm 136:1

Friday

Mornin' Girls! I was a little late today, Jackson and I had some errands to run this morning. This weather is weird. It's funny. I kept looking at the sky and the sun would shine through at times, and then, the clouds would be moving so quickly, and it would be dark. I kept thinking, I don't know why, and this is just my crazy thinking, I bet the Lord comes back on a day like today (weather wise). Funny huh?

I'm tired of doing what I'm suppose to be doing!!! Anybody with me???? I want to do for 1 day what I want to, and not feel guilty about it! I'm gonna try it today, I think. We'll see how it goes.

I hope ya'll have a great Friday, and don't forget the Halloween outreach at the Middle School tomorrow!! Hope to see you all there. I won't be at the church booth, though. You can find me with a glamour witch and a cowboy.

Have fun today!! Love ya'll!

P.S. If the Lord does come back today, will you be glad you did what you did today? Maybe we need to ask ourselves this every day!!

Thursday Thoughts

Late Mornin' to ya!! Sorry! I've been exceedingly busy with STUFF!! The end of the month rep orts for the church, and a lot of things going on all at once. When it rains, it pours, right???? Well, it's coming a monsoon at my house! LOL!! Ever feel that way??

I just have a couple of things to say. Let's all remember Jeanie, Joe, and baby Joshua in our prayers. Let's pray specifically for this last week of her pregnancy that she get all her nesting done, (that she would like to) that the Lord would give her energy to get through these last trying days. Let's pray for a safe and happy delivery and baby. Let's pray Bro. Joe doesn't pass out! LOL! Just kidding! Let's pray for the boys to be tickled with their new brother and bond well with him. Let's just lift them up over this next week, like never before. Let's just pray that God goes before them and prepares the way. Let's pray for dilation, and pain control, AMEN?!?!?!?!?!!! Let's pray that Jeanie can get some good sleep this week.

Please pray for our church and all the members. That we would all walk with the Lord, obey his every command, and do what we can to serve him.

Love ya'll!!

The Ark

Noah's Ark
Everything I need to know, I learned from Noah's Ark .
ONE: Don't miss the boat.
TWO: Remember that we are all in the same boat!
THREE: Plan ahead. It wasn't raining when Noah built the Ark.
FOUR: Stay fit. When you're 60 years old, someone may ask you to do something really big.
FIVE: Don't listen to critics; just get on with the job that needs to be done.
SIX: Build your future on high ground.
SEVEN: For safety's sake, travel in pairs.
EIGHT: Speed isn't always an advantage.. The snails were on board with the cheetahs.
NINE: When you're stressed, float awhile.
TEN: Remember, the Ark was built by amateurs; the Titanic by professionals.
ELEVEN: No matter the storm, when you are with God, there's always a rainbow waiting.

Most people walk in and out of your life........but FRIENDS leave footprints in your heart.

Wednesday

Mornin' Girls!! I'd like to tell you a story. The Lord has me working on taking every thought captive (2 Cor. 10:6 or 7, I think). It goes a little something like this (or at least what I've been working on). If you have stinking thinking, or negative thoughts, try this -- in your mind count from 1 to 10, and out loud say something like "I can do all things thru Christ Jesus who strengthens me." Ok, when you started talking out loud, your counting stopped, right????? (Don't lie, you know it did!!LOL!!) Sooooooo, yesterday, I put on my Alan Jackson CD, was working in the kitchen, (making bread to be exact) and singing. OK, if you know my house, you'll appreciate this when I tell you that I was singing and had my music LOUD and you could have heard me from the road (this is no exaggeration!!) "I'LL FLY AWAY OL GLORY I'LL FLY AWAY, WHEN I DIE HALLELUJAH BY AND BY, I'LL FLY AWAY!!!!!"
It was at this point, I looked up and saw someone standing at my door on my back porch, and I screamed bloody murder!! I have no idea what they saw me doing, or how long they had been there. They said they knocked, but I didn't hear them. And, guess who it was ------Jehovah's Witnesses!! And, they had to feel a little uncomfortable, I had preaching on TV, and I'll fly away on the radio. I, however was a little embarrassed!! Not because of what I was singing, or what I had on TV, but, If you've ever heard me sing, you understand! (and I wasn't even trying to sound good, I was trying to be LOUD!!!!)

Have a great day!! Love ya'll!

Monday, Monday

Mornin' girls! Hope everyone had a great time at the hayride, bonfire, church service, lunch and movie!!

Tina, I found Jesus' brother's names. AND I WANT TO ADMIT TO YOU THAT I WAS WRONG. I will always admit when I'm wrong! I was going on what I remembered, and evidently I shouldn't do that. It was not Justus. I guess, I combined Joses and Judas in my mind and came up with Justus. Anyway, you can find it in Mark 6:3. So, I humbly apologize!

Hope you all have a great day! I have a busy one! Austin's award ceremony is at 12:30 @ school! Have a great one and may God Bless you!

Monday

G U I D A N C E

This is amazing that someone

even thought of this!

Dancing With God

When I meditated on the word Guidance,

I kept seeing "dance" at the end of the word.

I remember reading that doing God's will is a lot like dancing.

When two people try to lead, nothing feels right.

The movement doesn't flow with the music,

and everything is quite uncomfortable and jerky.

When one person realizes that, and lets the other lead,

both bodies begin to flow with the music.

One gives gentle cues, perhaps with a nudge to the back

or by pressing Lightly in one direction or another.

It's as if two become one body, moving beautifully.

The dance takes surrender, willingness,

and attentiveness from one person

and gentle guidance and skill from the other.

My eyes drew back to the word Guidance.

When I saw "G": I thought of God, followed by "u" and "i".

"God, "u" and "i" dance."

God, you, and I dance.

As I lowered my head, I became willing to trust

that I would get guidance about my life.

Once again, I became willing to let God lead.

My prayer for you today is that God's blessings

and mercies are upon you on this day and everyday.

May you abide in God, as God abides in you.

Dance together with God, trusting God to lead

and to guide you through each season of your life.

Friday

Mornin' Girls!! Well, I'd like to ask how the love dare is going for ya????!!!!! Boy, the ones that wrote this sure did know what they were doing. Because only after asking your husband to reveal 3 things about you that irritate him, could you have a dare like today to rebuke yourself!! Amen??

Well, let me just tell ya how mine went (remember, don't tell Donnie this, he has no idea I'm doing the love dare on him!). FYI I distinctly remember this going MUCH better the first time! LOL!

I asked him last night, and immediately after I asked him, he started going up the stairs to take a shower. He laughed, and said "NOOOOOO!!!" So, I'm thinking" after 14 years, he's finally learned!!! Today's dare isn't that bad! Woo Hoo!!" OH, NO! It did not end there!!!! He commenced to telling me that after our "40" years of marriage, I should know what irritates him. So, I said the "top 3". Thinking he'd say, "Yep." then go take a shower. No such luck. Seriously, Will they never learn??????? He commenced to elaborate on LOTS of things I do that irritate him, AND then asked me if he had to stop at just 3.
Well, I played with Jackson, and when he came down, I was in a bad mood with him. I tried not to be, I remembered the dare, but I didn't care. He even asked me "why do you want so bad to be mad at me?" I replied "I don't know." (oh, yes, and then he asked me if I was pregnant!!!!)

WOW!! Sure do hope yesterday's dare went better for ya'll. I've learned I'm a whole lot like Jackson (still living in toddlerville).

Hope ya'll have a great day! The good news is, I haven't blown today's dare yet. (But then again, Donnie did get a call at 4am, and I haven't really seen him. LOL!)

Thursday

Mornin' girls!! Yes, before you fuss at me, I know I'm late today, but I WAS DOING SOME STUFF FOR THE CHURCH OK????? I had to drop off the tax-exempt form at Save-A-Lot and go and pay the workers at the church. (Which by the way, the basement looks awesome! But, we are at the end of the money. We need to pray that the good Lord will provide for us in the way of money, workers (church family workers- you know- the non-paid kind), donations of building materials and whatever he deems necessary. The Lord has shown me this morning that HE EXCEEDINGLY AND ABUNDANTLY MEETS OUR NEEDS AND EXPECTATIONS MORE THAN WE COULD IMAGINE!

As Tina and I discovered yesterday, we need to be careful with the question dares. (The Love Dare's at the top.) You may be in for more than you know. And, here we are again, with another question. I'm sure MY husband will have trouble stopping at 3!! LOL!! The BAD part, is that I can't tell him anything back. (No, you can't either!!!) Maybe we all need to pray before we do this!!

Don't forget about the Hayride and Bonfire on Saturday at the church @ 5:30!!! Bring hot dogs, buns, drinks, chips, stuff for smores, etc!!

I got a poem by email I thought I'd share.

THE U IN JESUS

Before U were thought of or time had begun,
God stuck U in the name of His Son.

And each time U pray, you'll see it's true,
You can't spell out JesUs and not include U.

You're a pretty big part of His wonderful name,
For U, He was born; that's why He came.

And His great love for U is the reason He died.
It even takes U to spell crUcified.

Isn't it thrilling and splendidly grand
He rose from the dead, with U in His plan?

The stones split away, the gold trUmpet blew,
and this word resUrrection is spelled with a U.

When JesUs left earth at His upward ascension,
He felt there was one thing He just had to mention.

'Go into the world and tell them it's true
That I love them all - Just like I love U.'

So many great people are spelled with a U,
Don't they have a right to know JesUs too?

It all depends now on what U will do,
He'd like them to know,
But it all starts with U.

Have a great day, don't get too upset with what your hubby tells you!LOL!!

What's Up Wednesday????

Mornin' Girls! It was awesome to see all of you last night at the Missions meeting! If you weren't able to come, I'll recap a little:

As of yesterday morning our balance in the Missions food drive for the Good Sam was 116.01, but yesterday we got an offering for $400!! Amen!! That brings the grand total to 1072.66 money that we have collected to buy food for those that need it!! We have an awesome, caring church family that I consider myself grateful to be a part of!!

We are going to start taking up names for children for an angel tree. We are going to put it in the bulletin, and if you know of a child, or are in our church family and are in need of help for Christmas, we would be honored to put your kids on our angel tree. (There will be no names involved.) May the Lord bless us to be able to bless those in need! We are to be the hands and feet of Christ, and I feel like we are striving to do what we can!

The Secret Pal Christmas Party is December 7th. You don't have to be a Secret Pal to come. We'd love to have you join us, the only requirement is that you are of the female gender. (Donnie asks me every time I go to the Missions meeting. Is this one of those "all girls things"?)
I LOVE our all girls things, don't you????

The Cantata (banana???) is going to be December 13th. (Ok, for all those that attended last night, I spell checked it, and this spelling is right.

The name deadline for the angel tree is Nov. 15th, the gift deadline is Dec. 13th.

Prayer Requests:
Angel Tree Mission
Puppet Ministry
The basement project
The Christmas Play

Hope you all have an awesome day!! Love ya'll!!

I know you are all worth this!

Ok, girls. You know I've been having trouble with my computer. It's running super slow today, and I'm wanting to post lots of stuff. BUT I KNOW YOU ARE ALL WORTH THIS!!!!! Here's a LONG devotional I read this morning, and just thought I had to share. (and just to think, my Mom asked me yesterday if I was running out of things to say on here. Ha!)

STIRRING THE POT

"Reservations!" may be our favorite dinner entree, but we all spend some time at our stoves. Whether we cook often or seldom, it is good to take a peek at who is stirring our pots- Hatred or Love?
Hatred stands at her stove stirring the pot. She becomes more furious and vicious as each swipe of the spoon brings up past pain and injury. Hatred keeps stirring to make sure she doesn't miss any of the ugliest memories. While scraping the bottom of the pot, she delights in the dissension she discovers she has almost forgotten, but even that is not enough. Hatred knows just what buttons to push to turn up the heat. She makes the fire hotter and hotter. The contents of the pot swell, getting bigger and bubblier. Frantically, Hatred keeps stirring and turning up the heat. Soon the pot is overflowing and spewing dissension over the top of the stove. She realizes too late that the stove is a mess and so is her marriage. The hot liquid is uncontrollably overflowing. It begins its deadly descent spilling off the stove, scarring the scalps and minds of her innocent little children playing at her side.
Love views her pot much differently. Noticing the wrongs brewing inside, she quickly takes the lid and covers the pot. Love refuses to lift the lid fearing any forgiven and forgotten dissension may sneak out. She decides it is best not to push the buttons and turn up the heat. Love is sometimes tempted to peak into the pot but stops herself and determines, "No, I'm not going there. I won't look in that pot." Love discerns the difference between brewing problems that need a little stir and those minor irritations that are better left covered. After much sacrifice, her stove is clean, her marriage content, and her little children play happily on the floor at her side. If we aren't happy with the person stirring our pot, it's not too late to replace the cook. Who stands at our stove, what buttons are pushed, and how frantically we beat are the decisions we make every day. Certainly, there are times when our pot needs a good stir. We shouldn't put the lid on big problems. Gut there are other moments when the little, unimportant irritations are better left covered.
King Solomon states in Proverbs 10:12 "Hatred stirs up dissension, but love covers over all wrongs" (NIV). Solomon never placed a foot in our homes, but he knew that some days Hatred would stir, and on others, Love would cover. May we choose our battles with the wisdom of Solomon. May God give us wisdom to know when to stir the pot and when to leave the lid on. Our families will then play safely without fear of the person named Hatred.

Love Ya'll!! DON'T FORGET ABOUT THE MISSIONS MEETING TONIGHT!!

Thankful Tuesday

Mornin' Girls!! I am thankful for my computer that seems to be trying to teach me about patience today. I am thankful for this world, my life, my family, my church, my friends, my pastor and his family (Have you seen the paper today?)

I'm trying to cultivate an attitude of gratitude! Even with my slower than usual computer, hey, I had time to go downstairs and get a cup of coffee while waiting for this page to load, and I bet you ladies with fast internet don't have time to do that, now do you.

What are you thankful for today?

Love ya'll!

More Monday

Mornin' Girls!! I need a longer day today, because, I have a lot to get done! Ever felt that way? I sure hope I'm not the only one. I have to share a story with you.

I don't usually go to the Sunday evening service. It is hard on Jackson, we are usually there in the morning way after his nap time. He normally doesn't get to lay down until he would be getting up. I know you all know how important routines are to little ones. Well, he normally goes down for a nap on Sunday's about 2:00 or so (after we have time to eat), and he doesn't get up until 6 or 7. He "normally" stays up a little later, and goes to bed and sleeps all night. (Did you notice how many times I used the word "normally"??)

So, I bet you're guessing last night was different. You'd be right! I read him 4 stories, and put him to bed around 10. Well, about the time I got dozed off really good he started REALLY crying! (around 11:15) I was soooo tired, and we all know we do crazy things when we're tired. So, I decided, I didn't want to get him up, but instead I'd get in the bed with him. (Ok, you have to know that he's still in a crib - and I will probably keep him there as long as possible - that way, you don't have to worry about them following you out of the room when you put them to bed!!)
Well, he LOVED this idea!! I got to lay there and cuddle with him, and we were both loving it!! Then he decided, more than one in the crib, so we'll PARTY!! First he sat up, I didn't say anything, then I was pretending to be asleep (I think, I may have been asleep - I was really tired) So, he started saying "Momma, where are you?" over and over, then I opened one eye, and he said "Oh, you're winking, Momma!" Then he kept doing all these funny things. I was pretending to be asleep again, and he started acting like he was picking something off my cheek - (which kinda concerned me, because he has a new habit of picking his nose) but then he said, "Do you have any more ticks, Momma? Oh, there's one!" It was freckles. (at least I think it was) Then he started yelling "Daddy, Sissy, wake up!!" I continued to tell him how he needed to whisper. Then, I got a little stern with him, and told him he needed to lay down. He started fake - crying and said "I cryin' Momma, I cryin' " Sometimes, it's sooo hard not to laugh! Then we decided to get up and have a snack. He ate come chips, and I had some sourdough bread. Sitting in the kitchen floor, I thought "How can I see God in all of this?"

1. Not sure, but the manna from heaven had to taste like sourdough bread. How else could they have lived on it for that long???? I could live on that stuff!!

2. Jackson said "I need chocolate" while he was in the kitchen floor, which made me smile, because he definitely got that from his Momma! And I'm pretty sure chocolate is straight from heaven, because of James 1: 17a "Every generous act and every perfect gift is from above." I know there's not many perfect things in this world, but I think chocolate is pretty close!!!!

3. Jackson is a gift of God - See above (James 1:17a)

4. I consider this time with him a gift from God, because otherwise, we would have just been sleeping, and how fun is that when there's a crib party downstairs!?!?!?!

Love all of you, and I encourage you to try to see God in the unusual, everyday things!! He's there!

Saturday

Mornin' Gals!! Hope ya'll are having a great day, and are up for a little DARE!! The Love Dare that is! I've done this on my hubby before, but I thought it would be cool if we could all do it together, and see what would transpire.

Good Luck, let's see who takes the DARE, but NOBODY can tell the men!!

Love ya'll! Have a great day!!

Baby Joshua

The baby countdown timer has been changed to the expected delivery date of November 5, so we can see how many days are left!!

Fabulous Fantastic Friday

Mornin' Girls!! Hope today finds you well and frisky on this fabulous fantastic Friday!

Ok, I just have to say, Tina has stoked the competition side of me with the Trivia questions!! I think it's awesome! I was very impressed with her answer to the demon question. If you don't know what I'm talking about, look down and to the left. Ask a question. It's cool. We're learning and challenging each other! Awesome!

Jeanie gave me the book "Have a new kid by Friday" (Yes, I know today is Friday, but I didn't get it till Wed. and started it yesterday. ) It's a cool book. It's more about how you react to them, it's more about changing you. Has anybody read "Have a new husband by Friday"? I'm wanting to get my hands on that one. Ha Ha!! But if it's like the kid book, and it's more about how I react, I'll be a totally new person, and will they be changed at all???? LOL!!

I guess today is about books. I LOVE BOOKS!!!!! I got it from my Mother! I don't need to buy any, I just go to "Mom's Library", (but I still buy them!! eek!!) Yesterday I read "A thousand tomorrows" by Karen Kingsbury (Women of Joy speaker this year!!!! I thought I'd get a jump on it and read some more of her books) This book was awesome!! I read it all yesterday (which is very unlike me - and like my Mom. I'm turning into my Mother, aren't I???) But, I do have to warn you, do not read this book if you don't want to cry your eyes out. Austin asked me numerous times if I was ok, and why did I read a book that made me cry like that.

I saw John Bevere on the Joni show yesterday. He has a book called "Driven by Eternity", that I'd really like to get. Has anyone ever read any of his books???

Ok, girls, what is an awesome life changing, touching, challenging book you've read lately????

Have a great day!

P.S. Tina, you can't stump me!!! LOL!!

Think deeply Thursday

Mornin' Girls!! I really enjoyed seeing all of ya'll last night, and I enjoyed the lesson. I don't know if it was what Brother Joe talked about last night or what the Lord has given me to study this morning, but I just feel confused. Do you ever feel that way. Not so much thinking you got it ALL down, but think you've got a grasp on some of it, then you get confused and wonder and wonder. Have you ever noticed how the Lord will give you a certain scripture over and over? Well, when this happens, I believe we need to sit up and take notice. The Lord has got me looking into 1 Kings, Chapters 18 and 19. Elijah continued saying that he was the only prophet of the Lord left, and he clearly was not. At one point he was talking to Obadiah (a prophet) and Obadiah took 100 prophets and hid them (Ok, to me that seems to bee 102, counting Elijah and Obadiah - maybe Obadiah couldn't be considered a prophet yet, it only said that he was a man who greatly feared the Lord. ) So, was Elijah just saying "Woe is me?" and feeling all alone, even though he wasn't? I think Brother Joe preached on this one time, but I can't remember what he said. (Don't tell him! He He!!).

Ok, enough rambling. I found this post on another website, and it is something that is near and dear to my heart - Morning Devotions. So, I thought I'd share.

"Morning is the best time for getting to know God. This principle was deeply impressed upon the children of Israel by His daily gift of manna. The angel food cake rained down from heaven early in the morning, six days a week, for 40 years. If one waited too long to gather it, the manna would evaporate in the heat of the sun. “And they gathered it every morning, every man according to his eating: and when the sun waxed hot, it melted.” Exodus 16:21.

Likewise, if we wait too long for our spiritual devotions, the cares and pressures of the day will get our attention before the Lord does.

The busier we are and the more we have to do, the more we need to take time to pray. Let’s not allow the manna to melt.

Jesus, our example, practiced morning devotions. “And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, He went out, and departed into a solitary place, and then prayed.” Mark 1:35.

As famous evangelist Charles Spurgeon well said: “The morning is the gate of the day, and it should be well guarded with prayer. It is one end of the thread on which the day’s actions are strung, and should be well knotted with devotion. If we felt the majesty of life we should be more careful of its mornings.

“He who rushes from his bed to his business and waiteth not to worship is as foolish as though he had not put on his clothes, or cleansed his face, and as unwise as though he had dashed into battle without arms or armor. Be it ours to bathe in the softly flowing river of communion with God, before the heat of the wilderness and the burden of the way begins to oppress.” — The Truth About Mary Magdalene, Doug Bathelor, p. 53"

Hope ya'll have a great day!! Love ya'll!

God is busy!!

Mornin' Girls!! Hope you're off to a great day! (Let's just say I'm off. LOL!!)

How do I know God is busy? I keep him that way. I pride myself in saying I'm not a "high-maintenance wife" but I'm pretty "high-maintenance" for God!
I'm reminded of the verse that says something like, He that has started a work in you will continue it until the day of Christ Jesus. (THAT IS SOOOO ANGIEPHRASED! Not a direct quote from any known translation) I just bet God may be regretting saying that. You think?

I was thinking about what to post this morning, as I fixed my coffee. I thought I'd maybe post about how I so failed in the patience category (I took the kids shoes, clothes, and grocery shopping yesterday -- And, gotta tell ya, I said "Jackson, do you want to go to K-Mart?" He said, "No, I want to go to Wal-Mart." Ha Ha! I do have to say it went really well, but we all got tired, and by 7:00 last night, I was soooo ready to send them to bed!!!!!).

Then, I read one of my devotionals. Check this out.

"We humans are strange - saying one thing yet doing another. As we seek to teach our children moral vales, we hope they will agree that evil has no place in our homes, hearts, or minds. All the while, they are watching to see what makes us happy. Our children learn from us what gives us pleasure.
So what do our children see us delight in? What makes us smile? Are we more excited about the dream vacation than the worship service? Do we tell our little ones to hush their enthusiastic questions so we won't miss the marriage proposal on our favorite sitcom? Have we rushed our children to bed, hurried through a story and mumbled a thoughtless night-night prayer so we can return to our romance novel? Are we excited when we have a hot piece of gossip to convey over the telephone?"

OH, HOLY COW!!!! I've fussed at my kids for interrupting me from reading the Bible! I got aggravated last night (all I wanted was a little peace) when I was interrupted from watching a religious show!

Now, do you see, how busy I keep God?

I sure am glad he doesn't strike people down with lightning anymore (does he?). I'm pretty sure I need a good slap on the back of the head!

Thank you, Lord, for continuing your work in me. You were very smart to say until the day Jesus comes, because we all know it will take that long!!

Love you gals! I'm not cleaning house too much today. (I do have to wash clothes or Donnie will be going to work naked tomorrow!) Today, I'm spending with my kiddos, that I'm so thankful God blessed me with!

Take it Tuesday

Mornin' Gals!! I'd like to share with you what God taught me this morning. He does have a sense of humor. (And I think he laughs at me quite often!)

Ok, first of all, let me explain a little. The kids got up early this morning while Donnie was getting ready to head out the door. (If Jackson doesn't wake up right, he has lots of immediate melt downs.) I thought I'd gotten him up good, and thought he was in a good mood. (Most of the time he will be standing up in his crib, and I have to play peek-a-boo a few times with him, then he's ok. If I just walk in his room -- yep, you guessed it - meltdown.) But, it was a little different this morning, I was going in there to see if he needed cover, and he was awake, and so I thought he was ok.(and happy) We came into the kitchen and he wanted a pop-tart (his food of choice). So, I undid the cabinet lock and (MELTDOWN- because he didn't get to do it). Then he wanted to help me stir his strawberry milk, and I tried to let him help me and he spilt a lot on the floor, so I took it away and (MELTDOWN - because he didn't get to do it) At this time I got down in the floor and told him eye-to-eye that he couldn't do that, and explained why. He said ok. Then Austin had gotten up and turned on the TV, she nicely turned it to something he wanted to watch (that was taped) then after the intro song went off, yep, you guessed it (MELTDOWN - because he wanted to sing it over and over). I got down and told him he had sung it once, and needed to watch the show now.

It was at this time, I began to pray. Lord, it's so hard to teach kids patience. They want what they want when they want it. (I'm sure he was laughing at this point) I then, slowly, began to realize that adults are not much different than toddlers. Oh, we try to act like we are. We try to act like we have patience. But, do we really? We are living in an instant world. We want everything NOW. Why do most fights and disagreements occur - BECAUSE WE DON'T GET WHAT WE WANT (USUALLY WHEN WE WANT IT). It was then, that I realized that by trying to teach my child patience, my heavenly Father was trying to teach me patience. (Patience, to teach him patience)

A couple of definitions of patience in Vines is :

1. To wait for
2. To bear patiently, endure

"The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, self-control. Against such things there is no law." Galatians 5:22,23

These are things Jesus has, these are things that the Holy Spirit has (the one living inside us) so the fruit that should be evidenced by others in us is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, self-control. Boy, I feel like such a TODDLER!!!

Love ya'll! Have a great day!!

Marvelous Monday

Mornin' Ladies! I feel like I didn't get to see any of ya'll yesterday, since I was in the nursery. But we'll make up for it later!

I'm excited!! Fall Break!! I'm focused on homemaking this week. I am redecorating, rearranging and re-everything this week. Austin loves to help with this, she just loves to have it her way, instead of mine. I'm gonna do some crazy stuff, and see how it works out. I'm gonna move my table into the living room, and move some of my living room furniture into the dining room, you just have to see my house to understand (it's all one big open room anyway). My focus this week is:

1 Corinthians 14:40 "Let all things be done decently and in order."

Proverbs 24:3-4 "A house is built by wisdom, it is established by understanding; by knowledge the rooms are filled with every precious and beautiful treasure."

OK, gotta leave you with some humorous quotes from a catalog:

"The answer is chocolate, who cares what the question is!" (amen from me)

"A smile is a curve that sets everything straight."

and finally, my favorite:

"I laughed so hard the tears ran down my leg!"

Love ya'll, have a great Monday

Sweet Saturday

Mornin' girls! Aren't you glad it's Saturday? I know I am. I'm doing cleaning today, and rearranging, and decorating. Boy, going to Vickie's house sure made me want to make mine pretty. So, that's what I'm gonna be up to for the next week. What about you? What are you up to today?

I just wanted to let ya'll know I am the perfect Proverbs 31 woman, UNTIL THE FIRST PERSON IN MY FAMILY WAKES UP! He He!! Then it doesn't take me long, to come running back to God, saying, "How can I be nice?" "Please don't make me have to say "no" to the kids all day." "I don't want to do that." etc, and so forth. I believe God's way of making me humble is waking someone up in my family! Ha Ha!!

I hope ya'll have a great day, I did want to share a blog that you might be interested in. With it getting colder outside, I know I use my crock pot more. This is a lady's blog that her new year's resolution was to use her crock pot every day, and she did it. But, she has all the recipes on there. I thought you might like it. She has them listed in alphabetical order to (you have to click on that link, (MOM) LOL! Love ya.

It is www.crockpot365.blogspot.com

Check out the Announcements

These are my announcements, I'm sure I've left out some, but you'll find those out Sunday!!

We appreciate you Brother Joe!!

And all of the crazy things you do for us!!

Today

One day a woman's husband died, and on that clear, cold morning, in the warmth of their bedroom, the wife was struck with the pain of learning that sometimes there isn't "anymore". No more hugs, no more special moments to celebrate together, no more phone calls just to chat, no more "just one minute." Sometimes, what we care about the most gets all used up and goes away, never to return before we can say good-bye, say I love you."

So while we have it, it's best we love it, care for it, fix it when it's broken and heal it when it's sick. This is true for marriage.....And old cars... And children with bad report cards, and dogs with bad hips, and aging parents and grandparents. We keep them because they are worth it, because we are worth it.

Some things we keep -- like a best friend who moved away or a sister-in-law after divorce. There are just some things that make us happy, no matter what.

Life is important, like people we know who are special.. And so, we keep them close!

I was thinking...I could die today, tomorrow or next week, and I wondered if I had any wounds needing to be healed, friendships that needed rekindling or three words needing to be said.

Let every one of your friends know you love them. Even if you think they don't love you back, you would be amazed at what those three little words and a smile can do. And just in case I'm gone tomorrow.

I LOVE YA!!!

Live today to the fullest because tomorrow is not promised..

FINALLY FRIDAY!!

Woo Hoo, and I'm excited that Fall break has started and there is no school today!!!!!

Sorry, Mornin' Ladies!! I'm a little excited today, can you tell???

Ok, I have a few quotes from different devotionals today, and you see if God is trying to tell me (or maybe even you) something.

"I venture to suggest that the one vital quality which the great saints had in common was spiritual receptivity. They differed from the average person in that when they felt the inward longing they did something about it. They acquired the lifelong habit of spiritual response." A.W. Tozer

**That one kinda sounds like Bible study on Wed. night, don't ya think?

"God's primary goal is our ultimate good, not our comfort or short-term happiness- He wants what is best for us in light of eternity. At times this means He'll lay us flat on our backs for a season. If you experience such hardship, do pray for healing, but also pray for His message to you in your sickness."

"God didn't say 'oops'. He knew all about it.........When we go throught the accidents of life, we need to jump into our Heavenly Father's arms. And we hope when it is all over, we look back and say, "It was fun, God!" We will go for some rides in this life. We might as well go through them hugging Jesus. He isn't too busy, He isn't surprised, and He's still in control."

"Now as I ponder my calendar... my time... I pray with renewed desire, "Lord, I want to hear Your Word, live Your Word. This must be my priority. Teach me to apply my heart to wisdom." I know that "wisdom" takes time. It's a process of waiting, studying, listening-looking for the big picture to fulfill the purpose for our lives that God has for each of us. Prayerfully consider your own life now. Is the way you are spending you time taking you toward a life of wisdom? We are all given the gift of our lives - this portion of time - and how we spend it is up to us. Scripture says, "Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding" Prov. 4:7"

I hope all these little devotions have touched you this morning.

Love Ya'll!!

Thankful Thursday

Mornin' Girls!! I came to a realization yesterday (with the help of a very loving and honest friend and mentor) that everything is not as it seems. Um, even trials. I posted yesterday about trials, but I found out that sometimes our trials aren't even trials. OK, this may seem way out there, but stick with me on this. Sometimes we let our feelings get in the way of how we perceive things. Sometimes what we think will make us come crashing down (even for just a few hours, or days) wasn't even meant how we thought it was. As my good friend said to me "you have to step back, and ask yourself, "what were their intentions? Did they do it just to hurt me?" " If the answer to the latter is no, you have to take a step back in how you react to it. Thanks my friend, for the lesson in life.

I found myself yesterday, asking myself "Why is it so hard? The Christian life? " I know we are going to have trials, I never expected it to be easy. But, I never expected it to be this hard, either, honestly. I read things in the Bible and get condemned!! Then, I have to change the way I think or act about what I've been condemned about. Is the Christian walk life changing??? You bet, EVERY MINUTE OF IT!! Amen?

I want to leave you today with a few scriptures.

"Enter through the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the road is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who go through it. How narrow is the gate and difficult the road that leads to life, and few find it." Matthew 7:13,14

"Not everyone who says to Me 'Lord, Lord!' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of My Father in heaven." Matthew 7:21

I'LL GLADLY TAKE THE DIFFICULT, NARROW ROAD, LONGING AND STRIVING TO DO THE WILL OF OUR FATHER IN HEAVEN!

Love ya'll!!

What's up Wednesday

Mornin' Gals!! I have to first say how truly blessed I was by last night's ladies Bible study. Not only was the food and fellowship great, but Vickie's house made me feel like I was at a retreat in the mountains. Wow, what an awesome time!!

I'd like to share our prayer request list:

Tina's Mom is having surgery Friday morning
Andrew Scalf diagnosis of Alzheimers
Merle Scalf test results
Vickie & Jim & her mother in law Dorothy (Jim is caring for her for a few days)
Karol's brother, recent stroke
Puppet ministry
Halloween outreach
Carmen's son, Ryan Davis, in Iraq, and his fellow soldiers
Doris' son, Matt Davenport, in Tokyo, (a typhoon expected to hit Thursday)
Donna, fibromyalgia
Billy's co-worker, Buzzy, recent stroke

I have a book Jeanie gave me back (and thought it was mine, but it wasn't), but that's ok, because I've really enjoyed reading it. (Maybe she knew it wasn't mine, but knew I needed it?)
It is "Finding God's Path Through Your Trials" by Elizabeth George. I love her Bible studies, and I'm really enjoying this book. (If this book is yours, and you loaned it to Jeanie, I will return it to her in the next couple of weeks. Ha Ha)

Ok, no matter how many times I read James 1:2 , it never sunk in until this morning.

"Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials." James 1:2 NASB

Not, until speaking of trials and suffering, she sent me to 2 Timothy 2:3,4:

"Share in suffering as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. To please the recruiter, no one serving as a soldier gets entangled in the concerns of everyday life." HCSB

Wow. Just think about that. It amazed me. Let the words pour over you. We are commanded to share in suffering as a good soldier of Jesus. Not maybe, not sometimes. It's a command. Also, to please the recruiter don't get overly concerned about everyday things. Ok. This spoke to me this morning. I hope it spoke to you!!

Love ya'll! Have a great day!!

OK, and P.S. I have to apologize for talking so much last night. I just love you all and love being around you, and sometimes I get overly excited!!

Think about it Tuesday

Mornin' Ladies of Grace!! I hope you are all off to a wonderful day, I know I am. I got up at 4:45 to spend some time with the Lord, and I was truly blessed by it.

I read Esther this morning. Most of the time, when I read Esther, I think about Esther, and Mordecai. But today, the Lord got me to thinking about Queen Vashti. She was stripped of her royal "queenhood" (ok, not sure what word to use here, so go with me.) because she refused to appear when beckoned in front of a bunch of drunk men. The Bible doesn't say why she refused. (Some commentaries say she knew they were drunk and would be acting lewdly, or she could have been pregnant with Artaxerxes.) Ok. Let's think about this. Whatever the reason she had, can you blame her???? But God was there. Even though she was stripped of her "queenhood", if she hadn't refused, Esther wouldn't have become Queen. All of the Jews could have been killed, and that is the people God promised to raise Jesus from. Can you imagine the sorrow, anger and all the emotions she felt?
I guess what I got out of it is sometimes it's God's plan. She didn't do anything wrong (I don't think) but it seemed she was punished. Don't you feel that way sometimes? I know I have. But, we just have to trust that God will bring us through our situations. We don't hear any more about her, but later, Artaxerxes, her son became King (Ezra 7:1).
I know that God was all up in the book of Esther. I mean, the King got insomnia, at just the right time, and had the books read to him and learned of what Mordecai did, and decided to reward him (AFTER 5 YEARS!!! HOW'S THAT FOR PATIENCE???? Way to go Mordecai!! )
Ok, I've rambled enough. I just got really inspired with Queen Vashti today, not to mention Esther, and Mordecai!

I'm so tickled that all in our house is well today, praise the Lord, and I'm sooooo looking forward to the Ladies Bible study tonight!!!!!!!

Hope to see you there!! Love Ya'll!!

P.S. The word of the day is "QUEENHOOD" LOL!!

Meeting Monday update

The Thanksgiving dinner may have been put off because of the basement. I could be wrong. I think Joshua is a much cuter reason, though.

And, I remembered shortly after I logged off about the Youth bowling night. The date has yet to be set, but Scott and Julie are getting the kids out for a night of fun!!

Love Ya'll!!

Meeting Monday

Mornin' Gals! If you were unable to come to the business meeting last night, here are some recaps. Ladies that were there, feel free to add anything or correct me if I'm wrong on something.

1. Bonfire and Hayride is Oct 24th (the Saturday before Halloween) at 5:30.

2. We decided not to vote on Thanksgiving dinner time yet, as we are waiting to see what baby Joshua thinks about it. We'll discuss it at the next business meeting on Nov 1st.

3. You can now adopt a puppet!! Sister Tina seemed a little down when she found out that the puppets she bought were too small for our boys hands. So, this created a dilemma. We approved $250 for the puppet ministry, which included the stage. So, she was going to try to make them, but she needed help. She said she could start with 8-10 puppets, and the absolute cheapest she could find them was $40-45. There was several of us that chose to "adopt-a-puppet" last night. If you would like to, to adopt a full puppet we were donating $50, but I'm guessing if you want to donate any amount to the puppet ministry it would be appreciated!

4. There will be a Christmas Cantata this year!!

Hope you all have a wonderful day! Today is a little different for me because Donnie's at home, not feeling that great today (and I had to talk him into staying home!!)

Love ya'll!

Worship Him!

Mornin' girls! I will be worshiping the Lord today at home with Jackson (he's sick). Donnie and Austin are planning on coming this morning, and then we'll swap places, and I'm coming for the business meeting tonight. I hope ya'll have a wonderful service this morning, and hope ya'll see the Lord move there. I'm thankful that the Lord is everywhere and I can worship him at home, while ya'll worship him at Church. Amen!

I read a few words this morning I'd like to share about worship. I hope they touch you like they did me.

"The act of worship brings us to a starting point with God like nothing else can. There is an amazing power in worship that frees our hearts to receive God's unexplainable joy, which the world cannot take away, and His peace, which passes understanding. Worship comes from a heart perspective that sees God as greater than our problems and feelings. This perspective allows us to face life, walking by faith and not by sight. "Break through to worship" is the breakthrough that allows us to say, "It is well with my soul," even when all is not well with our circumstances. A breakthrough to worship is when we allow God to proceed. It's when we say, "God, I have nothing to bring but my decision to worship You. I choose. I let. God, bring that breakthrough that sets my spirit free to worship You."

What is the "one thing" needed? The answer is found in Psalm 27:4. Jesus was probably alluding to this passage by the words He chose to speak to Martha: "One thing I ask of the LORD, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in His temple."

Do you see how powerful that passage is ? It gives us the solution to every breakthrough we need. The answer is worship - always worship. No matter what our breakthrough blockers are- doubt, fear, pain, guilt- when we always see the Lord, life falls into place."

May you worship Him in spirit and truth today. Love ya'll!!

I love you, baby girl!

Friday

Mornin' girls! I hope you are all excited that today is Friday, and I hope you all have a great day!

I have some thoughts today, that I learned from Austin!

Ok, some of you may have heard me speak of (ok, complain) about how hard it is to get her up and moving in the morning. I even hate to admit that I said she might not be a good mother because she couldn't multi-task. (Ok, before you stone me here, I'm talking about - talking and getting dressed at the same time, listening and putting on her shoes at the same time. I didn't think I was asking too much.

Ok, once again, we had trouble getting ready this morning, but every time I was telling her to do something, she stopped what she was doing to listen and look at me. What kind of world are we living in that stopping and listening has to be done while doing something else? We first teach them that they have to listen, then we teach them they have to be doing something while listening, what's next? What would Jesus do? Do you think he would be brushing his teeth while I talked to him, or getting dressed? Or, would he stop and look and listen? We say we had rather have a slower pace, where we really connect. But what are we relaying to our kids? I know what I've done. And I stand convicted. Today, Let's stop, look and listen.

Love ya'll! Hope you are inspired to make a difference for Christ today!!

Ok, I normally don't post pics of my kids, but I feel the need to today. Thank you, Austin for the insight and inspiration!

Thursday

Morning Girls!! I feel a little here and there, my mind going everywhere this morning, but it's usually on days like this that I tend to get a lot done, so don't think I'm complaining. Just bear with me as my mind rambles.

First of all, our Food Drive is expanding. The Lord is REALLY working. There was a visitor at church on Sunday, she is a bus driver, and she is seeing about getting some other food drives going where she works!! Amen! Let's spread the word however we can that the Good Sam needs food, we may be awesomely surprised at what the Lord does!

Please pray for our church, and our pastor. Today is October 1st, and October is Pastor Appreciation month, and I would like input on what you all would like to do for that. (Please email me as our pastor tends to check out the blog occasionally!!) But I think I can more than likely speak for him and his family and say that something we can do today, in appreciation to him and the work he does is lift him, his family and our church up in prayer.

Love you Ladies! Hope you have a happy, productive, thoughtful Thursday!

My email is angdonnie@yahoo.com
